Svetlin Roussev was born in Roussé, Bulgaria, in 1976. He began studying with his mother at the Music School in Roussé. In 1991 he entered the Paris Consevatoire (CNSM), where he studied with Gérard Poulet, Dévy Erlih and Jean-Jacques Kantorow. In 1994, the jury unanimously awarded him First Prize for violin summa cum laude and First Prize for chamber music. In 2000, Svetlin was voted "Discovery of the year 2000" by the ADAMI and was selected for sponsorship by the Natexis-Banques Populaires Corporate Foundation in 2001. After being concertmaster of the Orchestre D'Auvergne, Svetlin is presently concertmaster at the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. Svetlin Roussev has also won many international prizes (including Indianapolis International Violin Competition (USA), Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud and Melbourne). In May 2001, Svetlin was awarded First Prize, Special Audience Prize and Special Prize for the best interpretation of a Bach concerto at the Sendaï International Competition, in Japan. Svetlin Roussev has played under the great conductors such as Leon Fleisher, Yehudi Menuhin and Yuzo Toyama, Marek Janowski, Raymond Leppard, John Axelrod, Arie Van Beek et François-Xavier Roth and appears as a soloist with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, l'Orchestre de Poitou-Charentes, l'Orchestre d'Auvergne,the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Montevideo Philharmonic, the Sendai Philharmonic... He also takes part in many festivals including Radio-France-Montpellier, Sully-sur-Loire, Kuhmo (Finland), La Roque d'Anthéron, L'Empéri, La Vésère, Orangerie de Sceaux... and co-organises the Festival "Les Classiques de Val d'Isère". Svetlin Roussev also plays tango repertoire with the band Tanguisimo and he is a member of the Rachmaninov Piano Trio. After the success of his recording of works by Pancho Vladiguerov with the pianist Elena Rozanova, the recording of Karl Amadeus Hartmann's "Concerto Funèbre", with the Orchestre d'Auvergne directed by Arie Van Beek was recently released. |
